This freestanding Manaia Wood Carving stands at approximately 45cm tall and features Paua Eyes. The Manaia is a spiritual being widely found on Maori vessels, weapons and ornaments. Its bodily components are symbolic of the sky, earth and sea. Manaia are seen to symbolize guardianship and represent messages from the heavens. Each Manaia carving is unique, so there may be minor variations in colour, size and detail. Made in New Zealand.
