Koru Breastplate - Pounamu #1
Koru Breastplate - Pounamu #1
This Pounamu Koru Breastplate is carved from Kawakawa and lashed with a black adjustable cord.
Koru is the Māori word for a loop. It is a spiral that depicts the unfurling of a silver fern, which is indigenous to New Zealand. It can also represent an individual, a new venture, or an unborn child. The Koru is a symbol of peace, tranquility, spirituality, family; regrowth, and new beginnings or journeys. This form is often referred to as whanau or family. The breastplate is a symbol of protection of both the body and spirit.
